Wing Chun University online learning.

The Ving Tsun Museum is proud to present the new destination for Wing Chun on the internet: Wing Chun University.

This new virtual learning site is dedicated to improving the training options offered in the Wing Chun Community. Featuring clear instruction, video displays from multiple angles, clear lectures, and training guidelines – Wing Chun University will help you to better understand the Wing Chun System and streamline your training.

As a result of researching and teaching Wing Chun to thousands students and instructors, the Ving Tsun Museum has discovered that understanding the concepts and theory behind the exercises and drills greatly affects the time and energy required to develop practical and effective skill. We have found that the student who understands the exercises, concepts, and theory of the system progresses much faster than a student who only learns the tools and techniques of Wing Chun.

The complete Ving Tsun Museum curriculum for the Ip Man lineage is structured into two primary tracks: Student and Instructor. As a Wing Chun University student, you will be guided through the curriculum working from tools to techniques to body mechanics to concepts to theory, just as if you were a private student. Wing Chun University’s online videos will enable you see the tools and techniques of Wing Chun, the primary and complimentary exercises, all concepts and theory necessary to train in a clear and concise format at your own pace, anywhere in the world. Upon completing each segment of the curriculum, you will upload a video of yourself participating in a Sash Qualification Test in a Ving Tsun Museum Testing Center where a Ving Tsun Museum Instructor will evaluate your performance. If your test meets the Ving Tsun Museum’s standards, you will be promoted to the next sash level.

The success of the Wing Chun University curriculum can be attributed to two things: first, the concepts and theory behind each exercise are clearly explained, and second, the step by step process in each exercise that clearly identifies the tools, techniques, and body mechanics you need to save yourself time in developing skill. To help you better understand the importance, and effectiveness, of the total sequence from tool to technique to body mechanics to concept to principle we have uploaded one sample of each of the lesson components. Although you will not be watching a complete lesson, by watching one segment on Tools/Techniques, one segment on Mechanics, and one segment on Concepts/Theories, you will begin to understand how this training process will develop your reflexes, understanding, and total awareness more effectively, and in less time, than ever before possible.

Wing Chun History and Philosophy

Every week at the Wing Chun University, Curator and Master Benny Meng, certified Ving Tsun Museum Instructors, and special guest Masters and VIPs will host a philosophy class where he openly discusses everything from health to history, as it pertains to the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Watch these Philosophy sessions, and you will realize why some people call Wing Chun a martial art, and others call it a way of life – a Kung Fu Life.

Wing Chun University will feature not only the information necessary to develop technical skill, but also the history, culture, traditions, and methodology used throughout the Wing Chun community. If you can’t afford to travel to the Ving Tsun Museum, here is your opportunity to bring the Ving Tsun Museum to you!

I have just discovered the videos. I love the idea! Too bad I do not have internet home, but I will find out how to watch them during the weekend. They look a little "advanced" for my level, but I am sure I will learn a lot of new stuff!!

Thank you!!

Among the many benefits available to you, the most important is the convenience of learning through this on-line format: you can learn at your own pace, go over lessons numerous times to grasp the essential details and concepts, all according to your schedule.

A secondary bonus: all active Wing Chun University members are invited to visit the Ving Tsun Museum and train for free in group or semi-private formats when in town for a visit, please feel free to ask for more details on just how this works and to get your visit scheduled. You must have a scheduled visit to take advantage of this secondary bonus.

Please add this email to your address book so you’ll be sure to get our future messages. Future emails will include information on Testing, Certification, Maintaining Active Status, as well as special workshops and events.

Sincerely,
Master Benny Meng, Curator
