Dear Students, Parents, and Friends,
As most of the Centerville members know, Hung Fa Kwoon of Centerville ( a.k.a. Meng's Martial Arts of Centerville) is EXPANDING!!!
For those of you that don't know, we're moving to the back of the gym in the Sports Acceleration Area of NeoLimits. We're taking the space that currently has the black pads and the basketball court. Our new school will feature an expanded lobby, retail area, student display, yearly calendar, changing room, an office, our own environmental music (classical in the lobby and nature sounds in the training hall) and two training areas - one is 338 square feet (5 feet bigger than our current floor) and the other is almost 1,700 square feet (or five times bigger than our current floor). In all, we'll have close to 2,100 square feet devoted to training out of a total of 3,200 square feet!
NeoLimits is going to build two main walls and we're going to do all the other construction - which will include building a 30" high deck which will be the entire lobby and an additional area in the training hall, plus all interior walls, the floor of the deck and all sanding/painting. If you have any construction experience - or can simply swing a hammer or do some sanding, please let me know if you're interested in helping out. kid's too. Construction is a great family activity, too. I know from personal experience - my father, brother and I replaced our entire roof one summer. Nothing better than working with your dad and older brother in 97 degree heat replacing plywood, tar paper, and hanging shingles. ^_^ It was great to sit back at the completed roof and know that the three of us worked together as a team to build something that will last for 20 years or more. and mom made the refreshments. Again, if you're interested in helping out, please let me know at my personal email account (
meng_gamay@yahoo.com). And there will be something special for everyone that helps out, too!
We'll be putting together a blog to announce the progress of construction as well as post pictures as things come together. Once I send out the blog address, feel free to email the address out to friends and families.
In combination with the blog, we're also planning to advertise on the radio and put together some articles for the Dayton and local community newspapers. We would also like to arrange some public speaking - and here's where we need your help:
1) If you know of any groups that might be interested in a free, no obligation talk on martial arts, martial art philosophy, self-improvement, self-defense, motivational speaking, attitude, consequences of actions, or more, please send me contact information for the group: contact person, phone #, email and/or fax #. It could be any youth group - Boy/Girl Scouts, YMCA, Boy's/Girl's Club, Church Groups, any social group - Kiwanis's (sp?), Business Groups, Parent/Teacher groups, etc. I'm sure there are more – all of us, together, are smarter than any one of us. Meng's Martial Arts is your school - please help us grow!
2) If you've found your training - or your child's training - with ANY Hung Fa Kwoon location world-wide to be beneficial, please let us know. We're going to need testimonials for our website, radio, and article promotions. If you're not sure what to say or write, just take a few moments to reflect on the Changes you've seen in yourself or your child since the start of training such as: improved focus, improved relaxation, improved grades, better time management, improved outlook on life, better fitness, having fun, developing character. here's an example from one of our Huber parents:
"As I pause to reflect about Aaron and his new adventure, my heart smiles. Just 6 months ago, I remember a young boy struggling to find his peace in all the chaos. Aaron's grades were falling, school was a chore, and his siblings trying to cheer up Aaron sometimes was fruitless. Physically he thought he couldn't do anything. Aaron was awkward, wanting to quit often. His self-respect was low, confidence absent. 'I can't' was part of his daily vocabulary. His ability to say on task very difficult. Often, I called his name over and over. He did not have a sense of responsibility to family or himself. Also, Aaron was having more trouble dealing with or thinking about all that was going on inside.
Since beginning martial arts, there have been many changes from inside to out. Physically he has more strength and coordination. Also, it usually takes one call and Aaron responds. When engaged in something which requires focus, I can actually see him redirecting his mind and even his body. His final grads reflect his ability. With his siblings, Aaron is patent and more understanding. One of the most exciting changes is the way he carries himself - shoulder back, chin up. Now he thinks 'he can.'
Although his recent strides are impressive, I am sure Aaron has some growing inside to do. Respecting oneself and others is ongoing. One day he will realize how powerful he is. Aaron will be able to be confident that 'he can' hold his own. He may even try new things. When going through difficult times, we hill find his strength inside. Physically, he will be in control of his body and understand his potential." - Thelsea Johnson, Aaron Losey's Mom
And according to Aaron, himself:
"I used to be very weak and the people at school made fun of me, but since I started martial arts I feel I'm getting stronger. It helped train me ears so that Mom doesn't have to yell to get my attention. My mom goes crazy to find a place to send me like band or Boy Scouts and now she has a safe place she trusts to send me, Hung Fa Kwoon of Dayton!" - Aaron Losey, age 10
... what kind of dollar value can you put on changes in a child like that? It is worth $100, $1000, $10,000, $100,000 or more...? I know a lot of our families feel the value they've received far outweighs any amount of $$$!
3) Tell your friends and family about the Hung Fa Kwoon of Centerville. Referrals are the best because it says that you enjoy the benefits of the Hung Fa Kwoon of Centerville enough to recommend our services to others. From our point of view, it's really the Gold Standard in promotions.
And finally, I plan on scheduling a series of open houses as construction continues for all members to voice concerns and suggest ways to improve the quality of our school and services. Look for emails on this in the coming weeks!
Sincerely,
Sifu Jeremy Roadruck
