Dear Students, Parents, and Friends,
March was another busy month. I took my second trip to Brazil, after the first one in February. I did three workshops with our Brazilian martial arts families: one was on combat applications, the second was on self-defense, and the third was on their training requirements. On my way to Brazil, I also visited Philadelphia and met up with my most recent Instructor-Level student to join my organization, Sifu Ian. I also traveled to Spain for a day and met up with my contact there.
In addition to traveling, we held a demonstration at Ceaderville College, an Instructor-Level test, and a Student test. Vincent Meng took 1st place at the USAT Taekwondo Championships in Columbus, OH. We also had a visit by two of my Instructor-Level students from Georgia (Sifu Michael) and Texas (Sifu Brad). More and more people are joining our Warrior-Scholar League and our Black Belt Clubs. Congratulations to all those that have stepped up to the plate.
For the month of April, we have plenty of exciting opportunities: My teacher, Grand Master Lin, will be paying a visit together with several of my classmates from the Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun Headquarters. This is a golden opportunity to experience the depth and beauty of this great system. In addition to Grand Master Lin, other VIPs might be coming to the VTM during the third weekend of the month, including Grand Master Gary Lam of the Wong Shun Leung lineage (Hong Kong lineage descendant). More details on this as they are firmed up.
And remember - there are still great opportunities to win the Big, Huge Easter Basket! This fundraiser goes to support our Annual Student Awards and Year End Celebration.

He began his Fukien Black Flag Eng Chun (Wing Chun) training in or about 1985 with Sukong The Kang Hai (3rd Generation of Black Flag Wing Chun successor). Suhu Lin also sought instruction from Sukong Tio Tik Kwi (5th Generation of Black Flag Wing Chun). This make him as the most learned Suhu in HKB.
Since then, Suhu Lin dedicated several hours every day to receive private instruction from Sukong The after the regular school hours. Not to mention that there were many countless sessions during his school semester break where he spent 10 hours training with the Grand Masters for several years. Seven days per week, he practiced forms, drills, and weaponry as well as meditation techniques. He has completed all of his training and has more than 25 years of experience in Black Flag Wing Chun Kung Fu as of 2010.
While finishing his studies in Management Information systems in 1995, Suhu Lin was well experienced in teaching Eng Chun, assisting the Grand Masters.

__April Recap__
April was another busy, successful month.
On the first weekend, members of the Black Belt Leadership and Instructor Corps (Sifu Jeremy Roadruck, Mr. Aaron McKillip, and Dave Triplett), together with Grand Master Kenneth Lin and Grand Master Benny Meng traveled to Chicago for a live Success Seminar. Everyone had a great time experiencing some of the latest in personal development technology. Sifu Sajid, a Black Flag ICP member from Chicago, also played host one evening for some of the best Indian food in Chi-town. He also went over-and-above by bringing lunch to Grand Master Lin, Grand Master Meng, and his training brothers the next day since the group wouldn't be able to get together again during the weekend's seminars.
On the same weekend, two warriors from our Warrior Scholar League Team had the honor of winning a State Champion title in the art of Taekwondo, Vincent Meng and Jejuan Tinsley.
During the following week, Grand Master Meng was in Sri Lanka to introduce the advanced program of Meng's Martial Arts, which is the Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun system, to more than 40 open-minded people from the Middle-East and the Arab communities. Many of them are VIPs in their respective countries including a member of the Kuwaiti royal family, who became a direct student of Grand Master Meng.
As soon as Grand Master Meng returned from Sri Lanka, the school was busy preparing for the visit of two VIPs in the Wing Chun community: Grand Master Kenneth Lin of the Black Flag Eng Chun lineage and Grand Master Gary Lam of the Wong Shun Leung lineage. The weekend was filled with Instructor training, seminars, workshops, banquets, and the presentation of awards to the Grand Masters from the Ving Tsun Museum. Many of the Black Belt Club members stepped up to clean and prepare the school for our special guests - thank you to each and every one of you!
This month finishes with a busy weekend - testing on Friday the 29th, then a weapons class on Saturday the 30th (in Huber) plus several students will be competing in Cincinnati, and finally - HKB training at the Centerville school on Sunday. *whew!*
Looking forward to a great May, and Happy Mother's Day (in advance)!
And welcome to our most recent Black Belt Club member: DeAnna Nesby

May was another busy, successful month.
On Wednesday the 18th, we hosted a successful Parent?s Meeting, which was followed by a special Black Belt Class. To recap, we covered an important topic: the use of energy and understanding efficiency in martial arts and in life. We covered this topic extensively in the Black Belt Class. We had a good turnout, but not all the Black Belts were present. It's critical that all Black Belts and all members committed to training to Black Belt and Beyond attend these special events. In these classes, we go into many topics at a deeper level than in regular classes. Attendance is both a responsibility and a privilege for students committed to becoming advanced martial artists. Mark your calendar now for the June Black Belt Class! The Parent's Meeting was very well received and covered the Five Areas of Emphasis of training at Meng's Martial Arts (in order of priority): Life Skills, Health and Fitness, Martial Art Skills, Sports Skills, and Entertainment Skills. We also went over a technical explanation of what we teach based on the Shaolin Halls progression. We would like to ask the parents to prioritize the Five Areas of Emphasis for their child (or family). Once we have that information, we will set up a time for a 1:1 meeting to discuss your priorities with you in further detail.
Thank you to those that participated at A World A Fair at the Dayton Convention Center: Mr. Tae Hayden, Mr. Vincent Meng, Mr. Michael Vann II, Ms. Iyana Palacios-Maya, and Jejuan Tinsley.
As a reminder, there will be no classes on Thursday, May 26th, we will be testing instead. Please register in the office. Monday the 30th is Memorial Day, there will be no regular classes.
Finally, during the first week of June, the 1st and 2nd, we will have a special celebration: Grand Master Meng's teacher and grand teacher will be coming to conduct some special training. Wednesday is for youth. Wednesday and Thursday are for adults.
On Saturday, June 4th we will be holding our fund-raising Kick-a-thon.
