I really enjoyed the 6 Wisdoms and how you related it to life and not just martial arts. The 4 earth time frames is new to me even through I am an old student because the Earth game is entirely new to me (previous experience). As usual I love the human range and am glad to spend a good chunk of time in that range. Thanks for coming down.

========================================================================Dear Sigung,
As a new student, being here with Sifu Ryan about seven months, I have a desire to learn more and fit more pieces together. Sigung’s seminar has let me see that these feelings are real and will be developed over time. I feel like taking the time to talk to the class about the wisdoms, teaching methods, training methods, and personal experience of Sigung had reinforced my thirst to learn and train more. I enjoyed feeling as if I can start to “connect the dots” even through I know that I am only grasping a tiny part of the whole picture/story of Meng’s Martial Arts. In addition, I enjoy learning/hearing about the Chinese culture, history of Shaolin and the research that Sigung and others have done to keep our Kung Fu alive and known. I am so grateful to Sifu Ryan and Sigung for allowing any level of student to participate this weekend. I hope all my Meng’s Kung Fu brothers and sisters get to experience at least one seminar like this.
     Respectfully,
     Jessica Adair

I really enjoyed this weekend. I liked how the Six Wisdoms interact with daily life. I could see how the training method of distance and timing are a major piece of successful martial arts. The second day with the bridge to takedown was very good. As always I appreciate your vision and leadership.
     Thank you,

HKB is a marvel of innovation and concept. I feel lucky and privileged to be introduced to such an amazing system. The information presented was top quality. I greatly hope Master Lin and the Ving Tsun Museum can further promote HKB to show people how solid the system is. Understanding the use of a different engine for power is not easy. The information explained as easy to understand and read. I hope to further learn and promote all the system has to offer. I truly agree the VTM has reached a milestone art and is at the end of researching. The VTM and HKB are truly a diamond in the rough.

This weekend has changed the way IO think about the formula and implementation of time, space, and energy. I have done a lot of training on how to properly align specific parts of the body as well as hands-on training on bridging concepts. However, I haven’t ever thought about energy or how to implement the structures I’ve learned with the proper energy. The concepts we learned this weekend changed the way I think about proper structure and implementation of strikes and blocks. Even though the structures are very similar to what I have trained in the past, the awareness of energy within Black Flag Wing Chun has changed how I think about these structures. I look forward to training detachment and developing the power of this. I’m glad that I now have an overview of all concepts within time, space, and now energy. I’ve very grateful to have been exposed to and have the opportunity to train Black Flag Wing Chun in the future.
            Thank you

Dear Master Lin,
With the little bit of exposure I had to Black Flag this weekend I became aware of the great potential this art can have on a devoted practitioner. The art is difficult and would take dedication and a lot of commitment but anything worth having does not come easy, which is why I believe that Black Flag is not for everybody. I can tell the long-term benefits it would have on overall health, mind, body, everything I believe, overall quality of life would improve in studying this style.

I can’t begin to express my gratitude to Sigung (Meng) for coming down and exposing us to the HKB system. As for myself the concept is hard to grasp because detaching oneself from the rest of their body is hard. Although knowing that I can still perform martial arts at a time where my youth has long left me is comforting. To be able to generate such power is unbelievable, without the use of muscle, body mechanics, or connection. I look forward to learning more from HKB Eng Chun.

I really enjoyed the Black Flag Wing Chun experience. The system seems to contain all of the pieces and I’m really looking forward to training in this system. Mater Meng appears to be well informed. The Black Flag history is very interesting and I look forward to learning more. I feel fortunate to be on the ground floor of this information. It also feels great to be one of the first to be exposed to this system in Texas. We really appreciate Master Ling and Master Meng for sharing this information.

Master Meng’s seminar on HKB was truly an eye-opening experience. The lecture on the history and origination of Wing Chun and then the revelation of the existence of Eng Chun or Black Flag Wing Chun provided for me a great background & means of understanding. The time, space, and energy concepts as explained by Master Meng related not only to martial arts but to life as well. As it relates to HKB the energy (or transfer thereof) was completely unbelievable. In sort, I really enjoyed the seminar, and look forward to continuing my journey in HKB.
Thanks to Master Meng and Sifu Ryan for the seminar.
            Best Regards
            Trey Acree

As always, having Master Meng come down to Houston is not only a great honor but also a very eye opening experience. Not only is the seminar he holds incredible, but the time I get to spend with him after is something I truly feel blessed to be a part of.
Of course, it goes without saying that the information presented during the seminar was mind-blowing. Hearing people say that Martial Arts is a life-long journey has never rung more true that after experiencing Hek Ki Boen.
The focus and dedication is something I have never experienced before in anything I do. The philosophy behind the whole system is a great aspect. Never did I think that as I train my body, would I be training my soul to grow stronger, smarter, and more mature. I cannot wait for the coming years to see what else I can learn.
            Thank you greatly,
            Kevin Hill

It was an amazing experience to be at Meng’s Martial Arts of Katy with Master Meng learning about the Final Hall that bring his research to an end this weekend. After witnessing the potential for energy conservation in my Kung Fu it is something I definitely wish to learn more about and practice. It has been difficult to let go of tension in my body but I believe with practice I will be able to relax. Sigung Meng did an excellent job explaining the Black Flag system to the variety of skill levels present at the seminar and was always responsive to questions asked. I look forward to future seminars and highly recommend them to anything wishing to expand their potential.

The experience that I gained this weekend’s seminar is invaluable to me, because it can be carried and applied to all aspects of my life. My first exposure to HKB was amazing as light bulbs in my mind were lit and thus my view on life was now becoming brighter as I gained clarity stemming from the internal energy aspect of our training. At age twelve, I started cultivating my Qi and storing it in my Dan Tien, and have been heavily involved with my meridian/chakra system and my continuous evolution towards enlightenment and my ultimate state of being, or non-being. Getting to change my training towards a more refined and efficient (long term) machine is what I’ve sought since childhood.

Adding this internal awareness towards my self-mastery is another important piece I’ve needed to help complete my life’s puzzle. Now that we have gotten to experience GKB at Meng’s, I am even more eager to continue my lifelong journey towards self-mastery, breaking free of an  preconceived notions or paradigms that may have been holding me back. In additional, Master Meng’s philosophical discussion of Chan and quantum/metaphysics, have simply been amazing. All of this had definitely been my cup of tea. I am very appreciative and humbled in getting to step onto the right path.
            Thank you

August 2011 Texas Workshop Feedback
Friday 12th and Saturday 13th
Meng's Martial Arts Houston Workshop

The workshop was great. All that was given at the workshop makes you think of kung fu in a NEW way, something that can be used in every part of life. The way to understand oneself, to the art. The time went by so fast. It was cool that it does not matter were you are as a student of the art you can always pick up more. And seeing thing told in a different light will make new doors open. The workshop that  GM Meng put on are always an eye opener.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today marks the second time I've seen Grand Master Meng come to Houston to display the power of HKB. The first time was an introduction to many new concepts. It was difficult to disconnect my body but definitely awe inspiring in regards to the potential power transfer.

This time we went over many similar drills but having a second look definitely helped further my understanding of the concepts. While still introductory, I feel like I'm understanding HKB and my own kung fu journey in a better light.

Disconnecting will be a challenge but I now understand the importance of tendons in HKB - pure muscle is not the end-all, be-all. I look forward to continuing my journey and improving my own skill. I'm glad to be a student under Sifu Brad Ryan and Sigung Benny Meng.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The seminar overall was great, 10 out of 10

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The way the six wisdom were explained made perfect sense. I have studied many martial art systems and I've not heard a better explanation on style and detachment. The way the six wisdom relate to human nature is completely true. Understanding that there are different methods of power generation is key to further develop potential. I look forward to the new book about the Six Wisdom. Also the explanations  and developing the HKB power was amazing knowledge. I hope to continue my journey with the new knowledge of the Black Flag System.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for coming and I look forward to December and February!
Eric Murphy

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been, bit by bit, "dipping my toe" into the Hek Ki Boen training over the last two years. I love that we're on the "bleeding edge" of the HKB training - every time I learn the mechanics of HKB better, I'm learning and understanding much more of the principles behind the system. Thanks to Sigung Meng for sharing this with us Steve Grimes

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I though that this seminar was good for a beginner like myself because it showed me how I need to act and think in kung fu before I develop the wrong mindset. I thought my punches weren't very powerful until I came here.
Detachment helped me realize that even the tiniest person can hit and affect a big, strong, heavy person. Or in my case, a small girl can beat up a heavier  guy. So thank you for coming and filling all of us in on the secret society.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm a beginner. A white sash. This seminar made me like kung fu even more.
Sifu and Daniel and really all the teachers here are great, and they care for their students which is reality helps us learn more.
Amanda Habib

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've enjoyed this seminar, learning the history of Shaolin Kung Fu. It opened up my mind about my own life and things I'm growing through. What I learned today I will use in my growth and experience, and continue my journey.

I've always been interested in Wing Chun, and it was a learning experience to have Grand Master Meng teach us. I've truly enjoyed this seminar, and glad to have had this wonderful opportunity. Thank you so much!
Sophia Cheung

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming away from this seminar with not only new kung fu skills but life skills. Grand Master Benny Meng has helped me affirm that I am on my right path. Through my martial arts training and life. Martial arts is a lifestyle, not a fight style.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Hek Ki Boen seminar was a well constructed lesson and introduction to using no muscles for the transfer of energy. It illuminated the possibility of power separate from the body and allows for efficient energy transfer. I appreciate that the lesson introduced the basic concepts and applications in an initial exposure to the technique. I hope to practice and integrate the techniques into my normal training skills.
