Hello everyone, my name is Julio Cesar Ribeiro Fontenele Bezerra, im 18 years old, attending law school in the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR) and student of Sifu Alex Magnos.

This was the first time i joined a workshop ministered by Master Benny Meng. I was very impressed when i first saw him in the airport... He looked like just a regular person. Althought i was highly mistaken by judging the book by its cape.  Lips Sealed

To be able to feel Master Benny Meng's energy when demonstrating drills, was simply exhilerating.

Also, his vast knowledge of Wing Chun was way more than someone could expect. To be short, every question you might have or not, he can answer it without having to struggle. I mean, there a lot of so called "masters" in the kung fu world that if you ask them why you are doing an exercise and what it is aimed for, he wouldnt know because someone told him to do it and he has been ever since.

Master Benny Meng is very open minded, humble and funny, hes the kind of person that doesnt care to what other people think about him.

But, the part that i enjoyed the most, was the Introduction to Black Flag Wing Chun's background and combat way. Even if Master Benny Meng said that he had only a spark of the Fa Jing required to execute Black Flag's combat skills, you could really see that it was something to be  Shocked  at.

I cant wait for Master Benny Meng to come back to Brazil and grace us with more valuable knowledge regarding Wing Chun and, hopefully, Master Lin could come too so we could make a "PUTA" event to be marked for History.  Grin

Thank you very much for your patience and consideration for coming to Brazil once again and enlight us with your wisdom Sigum.

Sincerely,

Julio Cesar Ribeiro F. Bezerra

Well, I just woke up today after nearly two days sleeping  Grin and my mind is still connected and impressed with the three days we had Sifu Meng between us.
Those three days were amazing, living intensely the real Shaolin Kung Fu, days  completely filled with new paradigm shifts. And every time we have more certainty that the great research conducted by Sifu Meng is leading us to the roots of the ancient shaolin warrior monk traditions. To listen and see Sifu Meng show us deepest levels of Shaolin Kung Fu is something scary and beautiful at the same time, because this power is well within reach of our minds and the bodies. Wink
Truly that I am still tired, but have almost 24 hours of training with your master is the best thing you may want as a dedicated student, and when the student has a great master as Sifu Meng, as we have, the satisfaction becomes thousand times greater. Actually we are fortunate by having a mentor, a guide, a teacher, as Sifu Meng. Thank you, Sifu. I'm anxious to see you again in October.

I will write a report about this entire event and post here asap.

I am completely impressed with what I heard and felt these days with our Master Meng. I am sure that our future really is BRILLIANT. This means that we must work and train much in this moment! It is a great responsibility. It was very clear to me that we have access to a real treasure.

I also would like to enhance my appreciation and gratitude for all that helped on this dream and to highlight my happiness by have a Sifu as Alex Magnos, such devoted, humble and evolved person who uses Shaolin technology in his life every day.

Meeting with Sifu Meng - Fortaleza Brazil - June 2009

Day One - 24:

On Wednesday I went early to the airport, there I found a few sidais and todais waiting for me. All of us were very eager, after all had spent just over a year since Sifu Meng is in Fortaleza. As we are waiting, we talked about the expectations of the latest discoveries and conclusions of Ving Tsun Museum on the Wing Chun originally developed in Shaolin.

The flight finally arrived in time. We met Sifu Meng at 08h40min and after see some old and new students, we left the airport and drove to the house of my sidai, Marco Antonio, who had prepared a reception followed by a special lunch for our master. We all saw this meeting as a new and bright beginning. So much of the steps that we would walk and places that we would visit have implied some symbolism with some importance to us. Starting from where we would spend the morning of Wednesday with Sifu Meng. It was precisely in the assembly room of the condominium where lives my friend and sidai Marco Antonio that there was, even in May 2005, the first meeting of the group of friends that would change the history of Wing Chun in northern Brazil. At that first meeting were me, Mairton, Marcos Roberto, Marco Antonio, Eugenio Araujo and Jurandir Nogueira. So the morning of Wednesday was reserved for a private meeting with that pioneer group and Sifu Meng, additionally some of my older students that helped very much in this project were also present, as Humberto Herculano, João Batista, Jorge Medeiros, Claudio Costa, and Julio Cesar. We pleasantly this morning talking about the past and contemplating the good news that waiting in our future.

After eating a great lasagna served by Marco Antonio’s mother, we take Sifu Meng to check in at the Vela e Mar Hotel (Sail and Sea) (http://www.velaemarhotel.com.br) on Avenida Beira Mar (Seaside Avenue). Following resumption of our journey, we reserve the same hotel in which Sifu had been the first time he came to Fortaleza in April 2007, so he could practice his jogging on morning before training. We had planned a rest for Sifu Meng in that afternoon, but he preferred to start the training immediately, then we drove to the place of training which was in UNIFOR (University of Fortaleza), one of the largest private university in Brazil (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=669470).

Some students are already waiting in the place of training in the UNIFOR and then others were coming. Sifu began a lecture on his research on the approach to the formatting of the Three Halls program and on the basis of 6 Shaolin Wisdoms. In this first time, Sifu Meng addressed the first wisdom, sik (techniques / tools) and its importance for development of the practitioner’s skills and highlighting the importance of having the Shaolin culture as a vision and way of life. Then we began training in the 1st Hall - Gei Bun Gung (Basic Exercises) on Qigong natural breathing and control breathing, and flexibility, strength and endurance. Then we began the 2nd Hall - Gei Bun Dung Juk (Basic Movements) focusing on the 36 Chambers of Shaolin within the 6 areas - hand methods, body methods, leg method, stances, footworks, posture / facing. So we spent the afternoon of Wednesday.

With night coming, we needed to leave the university, and then we went to have dinner at the Beira Mar Grill restaurant which is on the beach. It was another place that gave us the impression of some déjà vu. Back in 2007, this was the first restaurant where we had dinner with Sifu Meng in Fortaleza. After dine the students have already asked for our traditional training night on Avenida Beira Mar (Seaside Avenue) on the beach (http://mesquita.blog.br/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/bl-pl-fotos-memoria-fortaleza-beira-mar-2007.jpg). Unfortunately this was not possible because at the first of all it was rainy, and the second because Sifu Meng was very tired due the long trip from Dayton to Fortaleza. So I I and my student Jorge took Sifu Meng to the hotel to get some rest, but for me the night still had not finished, yet I found myself with sidais to talk about the news that Sifu Men brought to us.

Hi guys,

my name is Marco Antonio.I’m 30 years old and I belong to the first generation of students of Master Benny Meng in the Northern of Brazil. Master Meng is my Sifu and Alex Magnos is my Si-Hing. During this event, Master Meng sometimes referred to me as ‘The Hung Gar Guy’ because besides Shaolin Wing Chun I also practice Hung Gar Kung Fu. So I decided to take time to use that name here in the forum.  Grin

Well, this is the third time that I participate in a workshop taught by Sifu Meng in my city and as always, I am enriched by the amount of information gained from his experience and passed to his group of students from Brazil.I never get tired of listening to his explanations and his guidelines.  Wink

I think Sifu Meng also quite enjoyed this last trip to our city, especially during the hours of meal breaks of the workshop, where everybody had good conversations not only about martial arts, but also with issues related to philosophy, politics, business, family etc.We learned a lot with him, and he could ask and learn a little more of our local culture with us too. A real exchange of several informations between a master and his students.

The informations discussed about Qi Gong, breathing control and the practice presented in this workshop were amazing and I could see the Kung Fu with a different perspective, especially with regard to the three halls.

Sifu Benny Meng stayed only three days with us and lots of the informations about Black Flag Wing Chun showed by him was strongly absorbed by us.I can’t wait to Sifu Meng back here in October and share with us again more of his valuable knowledge about Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu and Black Flag Wing Chun Kung Fu.

I´m grateful to you Sifu and to all my Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu family by making another event a great success and by allowing our martial growth, as well as our human growth too.  Grin

I look forward your feedback to our city in October.

Sincerely,

Marco Antônio Nogueira Mourão 'The Hung Gar Guy'
