2008 was an exciting time for us. We began the year subleasing space from an established school called Samurai Martial Sports. Due to many variables and schedule constraints we decided it was time to get our own space and fully establish our Meng's Martial Arts identity. We celebrated our grand opening in August. Our new location and space was a huge improvement. Following in the footsteps and under the leadership of Sigung, an the entire Meng's organization, the result speaks for itself...we have a growing kung fu family.
We were a little behind schedule celebrating 2008, here are the awards results:
Adults:
Martial Artist of the Year Craig Macleod
Most Dedicated Daniel Duran
Assistant Instructor of the Year Cesar Hernandez
Special Recognition Jonathan Black and Kevin Hill (Becoming Black Sash Members)2009

Best New Comer Kevin Hill
Most Consistent Christian Hoss
Best Martial Arts Family Macleod Family

Most Improved Women Kirsten
Most Improved Men Ricardo Deluque
Special Recognition Melanie Simpson
Special Recognition to Simo (Julie Ryan)
on being a supportive wife thru the development of the new location.
Thank You, I couldn’t have done it without you!! Love You!!
Sifu Ryan awarded and presented his oldest student Daniel Duran with his 1st degree Black Sash- " I am very honored to recieve this recognition and I would like to thank my wife and kids for their sacrifice and commitment supporting me the last 5 years. I would also like the thank all my kung fu brothers and sisters whom I have been training with, without their hard work and devotion to our Kung Fu family I could not be successful. And of course special thanks with all my heart to Sifu and Sigung for the opportunity to serve you on this wonderful journey." - Daniel Duran
Already the first quarter of 2009 has been an eventful one, we are excited and pushing forward to establish Meng's Martial Arts of Houston as one of the best institutions of the martial arts and the developement of human potential.
