On the weekend of May 27th to 29th, 2011 I traveled to the I.E.F. Martial Arts Academy / Fitness & Therapy Facility in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
This was my first official seminar/workshop with Sifu Ian's students. Sifu Ian is a well-experienced and skillful martial artist, and instructor level in 4 systems: Northern Mantis, Taiji, Philippino Arnis, and Wing Chun.
The seminar included over 20 participants with varying backgrounds in the martial arts from beginner to well-experienced. The seminar went great but my primary focus was to train and certify Sifu Ian on the current VTM curriculum and set his foundation in Shaolin Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun. Given his extensive background, he was ready to go deeper into the Shaolin Hek Ki Boen system.
Welcome to all of Sifu Ian's students to our Shaolin Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun family!
Below is feedback from several participants:
I think it is pivotal for concepts and theory to be taught that are so often overlooked in today's martial arts. Master Meng has the ability to transfer these concepts in a very understanding way. I enjoyed the seminar and it really reinforced my training. - Hans Hufstetler
I think Master Meng is a very skilled and knowledgeable martial artist and I enjoyed the seminar greatly. - Zach Miller
Had an awesome seminar yesterday with my Sigung Benny Meng, provided by Sifu Ian Edmund Fusco. It was extremely educational and will help with all of my martial training! Thank you, Sifu and Sigung! I thoroughly enjoyed the seminar and found it to be exceedingly informational. The information I learned today will enhance everything I will train in. Thank you, Sigung! - Charles B. Illingworth IV
The seminar was very enlightening about the concepts of Wing Chun especially of the Black Flag System. Centerline and Gate Theory were explained at a level that can be integrated into my current martial art and has helped me understand movement and positioning. - A. Jacobs
The seminar was an extremely good experience. From a background of Tiger/Crane with a more focused side of Tiger, I had a lot to learn about efficiency in motion. Having started practice in Wing Chun, Master Meng opened my eyes to the efficiency and ability of Wing Chun. - Phil N.
Thank You Sifu Fusco and Sigung Benny Meng for allowing me to attend your seminar on Saturday. My mind is still spinning and processing all the information that Master Benny Meng presented on Wing Chun concepts. So simple. So direct. So powerful. It gave me an entire new perspective on kung fu, Wing Chun, the human body, exercise and life. Master Meng's explanations of how Wing Chun is based on how the human body works and how the human body works under the same laws that govern all living things made so much sense. The history and information Master Meng discussed were so thorough yet made it so very simple to understand. I always say that anyone that can take complex things and relay them in a simple way, is a good teacher. Master Benny Meng proved to be that and more. The seminar helped me understand Wing Chun better by helping me understand natural laws better. And will also make me a much better fitness and sports performance trainer to everyone I work with. And I cannot express how truly thankful I am for that.
The seminar was very educational, and challenging. In techniques and more importantly... concepts. The thorough explanations Master Benny Meng gave on Wing Chun Concepts, Technique, and History was mind-blowing. I would highly recommend attending this seminar for any serious-minded martial artist looking to maximize their potential. - Fernando Paredes, Fusion Fitness Studio, Doylestown, PA
Excellent seminar today! Thank you Sigung Meng and Sifu Fusco. The training was a treasure! =) - Charles Fisher
Yesterday I was part of one of the most amazing martial arts experiences of my life. I want to give a huge thank you to Sifu Fusco, and Sigung Meng, for allowing me to witness the true strength that a human can poses, and how detachment allows one to be truly awakened to their full potential. My personal mental training starts now, I can't wait for the day I will be on the same path as both Sifu and Sigung - Randy Ernesto Kooker
Master Benny Meng departs from the Philadelphia Airport. I was fortunate to experience quality private 3 days of training this time, enjoying Shaolin wisdom. Good food, excellent lessons enjoying The Kung Fu Life! - Sifu Ian Edmund Fusco
